PT | CST-D | Author | Speaker
An author, speaker, and trained physical therapist specializing in craniosacral therapy, Kate Mackinnon has been using touch to support her patients in their healing and in accessing their physical potential for the last 30 years. She's passionate about helping people create comfort and ease in their bodies. In addition, she coaches other health care professionals on reaching their full potential and running their successful solo practitioner business.
She holds diplomate certification in CranioSacral Therapy through the Upledger Institute. She is a certified presenter and distance healing facilitator for Healing from the Core and is a licensed Physical Therapist in both California and the United Kingdom. When first working as a Physical therapist in the UK, she spent many years working with children with disabilities where she first came across CranioSacral Therapy. Kate uses all of her skills to support patients of all ages through private in-person work and through distance healing sessions.
Utilizing CST, Kate helps people access their own self-healing mechanism and has seen amazing results by using her hands in this subtle and profound technique. She explains this effective treatment in her book titled "From my Hands and Heart: Achieving Health and Balance with CranioSacral Therapy" published through Hay House with a foreword written by Dr. Wayne Dyer, who was her patient and the inspiration for this book.
Additionally, Kate has partnered with Scarlett Lewis to bring the conversation about healthy compassionate touch into schools when working with Social Emotional Learning. Kate has developed an extension program called Healthy Compassionate Touch that is part of the enrichment program for the Jesse Lewis Choose Love Movement.
Kate co-founded Touch Advocates with her colleague Robyn Scherr. The mission of Touch Advocates is to support our colleagues in their bodywork practices and to provide ways for touch to deepen connection in our communities. Skilled therapeutic touch promotes healing in itself and enhances every other medical and therapeutic treatment. Healthy compassionate touch belongs in our families, schools, and healthcare systems to help us enjoy lives filled with connection, health, and love. Together, Kate and Robyn published "Elements of a Successful Therapeutic Business," as a guidebook for practitioners to improve their practice work.
In conjunction, Kate offers coaching sessions for health care professionals utilizing her clinical experience, therapeutic presence, and effective communication to support practitioners in discovering solutions to barriers that have been holding them back from reaching their full potential. Kate helps her colleagues assess how to make business bloom and tackle the personal and professional issues hindering them.
Based in Livermore, California, Kate works with patients and colleagues in person and virtually.
